On February 25, students in FFA visit Southeast Community College to compete in Career Development Events. They participated in the following events: Poultry Evaluation, Meats Evaluation and Technology, Livestock Evaluation, Farm and Agribusiness Management, Agronomy, and Agricultural Technology and Mechanical Systems.
Shayla Puhalla stated, “I competed in Farm Management, and I qualified for State. In Farm Management you take a test over economic questions like how to figure out loans."
Kailey Hartman competed in Agronomy and Meat Judging. She placed second overall and their team also qualified for State. When asked about how the contest went, Kailey stated, “In Agronomy, we identified plants, weeds, weed seeds, diseases, and machinery, as well as took a test and did a team problem. In meats, we identify different cuts of meat, and where they come from.”
