On February 14 and 15, the high school wrestling team travels out to Wilcox-Hildreth Public School to compete in district wrestling. It was a late Friday night and an early Saturday morning. Friday night, the team wrestled three matches. Three of the four wrestlers made it to day two, finals and heartbreaks day, of the meet. Though none of the Pawnee City wrestlers made it to state, they wrestled some hard-fought matches.
When asked about the season, Dylan Layne said, “I did well with my single-leg shots.” Single-leg shots are a tactic for taking down the opponent. Luke Hunzeker said he feels he did better at the end of the season than at the beginning.
Dylan and Luke both agree that they wish they would have made it to state, but they are happy with the season.
