On October 11, the Pawnee City Fire Department comes to the elementary to teach students about fire safety.

When asked how the kids enjoyed it, third grade teacher Scott Brumbaugh commented, “The kids always enjoy getting to see the firemen. They like getting to learn about the fire truck and this year was even better because they were able to be a fireman and shoot water from the fire hose.”

Mrs. Candy Sejkora said,  “My first graders loved it. It's always good to review I definitely think it is helpful to learn about fire safety.”

Superintendent Brian Rottinghaus said, “The students seemed to enjoy the opportunity to see the equipment the staff use and enjoy a warm day in mid-October. The experience provided valuable reminders to students about important safety considerations to prevent fire and help ensure safety in the event of a fire. Fire is a risk that all people face, but that risk can be significantly mitigated with proactive prevention and preparation.”
