On Thursday, Nov. 9, Pawnee City hosts the Annual Veterans Day Program. Students and staff gathered in the gym to give speeches, sing, and play in band. The 2nd and 3rd-grade students sang “We the People," 2nd graders read a poem called "Veterans Day," and the 4th and 5th graders sang "Veterans, We're So Proud of You.” Mr. Brian Rottinghaus announced the living honor roll, recognizing the veterans present.
Tanner Hippen, First Sergeant for Alpha Troop 1-134th Cavalry Squadron Army National Guard, came to talk about his time when he served. He told us what he's seen and has done and provided pictures in a slide show at the program.
The 6-12 choir students sang “We Honor You.” As a Private in the Army National Guard, Pawnee City senior Trey Marteney presented this year’s Remembrance Wreath. Emma Meints and Madolyn Gottula played TAPS, and the band finished the program with “Marches of The Armed Forces.”
Thank you, veterans, for your service.
