FCA starts the year strong with a trip to Syracuse and their kickoff at school. On Saturday, Aug. 19, Mrs. Sejkora took a group of students from grades 9-12 to Syracuse High School for an FCA rally. When asked about the activities, Luke Hunzeker stated, “We raced with cups of water on our heads to fill up a bucket, we prayed, ate Chick-fil-A, and talked to Larry the Cable Guy.”
On Sunday, Aug. 27, FCA hosted a kickoff event for the new school year. The kickoff started at 6 p.m. after open gym. There were all sorts of cool things to do there. When asked about the activities, Larkyn Vlcek said, “We started off with pizza that was supplied by Mrs. Sejkora and her husband. Then we played some games.”
FCA stands for "Fellowship of Christian Athletes," although you do not need to be an athlete; any high school student may attend. Mrs. Sejkora, the FCA sponsor, said, “It does not matter if you have ever come before, we want you to come. It is fun and we will have food each time.“ Every future Sunday night when they meet, they will have food, an icebreaker game, and a devotional. “Even if you cannot attend every time, we want you when you can attend.”
Look for posters hanging in the building or listen for a morning announcement to know when FCA will be meeting again.
